Crafts Direct Tour: Yarn Aisles.

Today I have another virtual tour to share with you - this time of our Yarn aisles/selection. You can find the many different types, styles, brands, colors, etc of yarn that we carry in three aisles (26-28) as well as numerous endcap displays.

March Class Calendar.

Our March class calendar is now available online!  Check out some of the fun things we are offering- we would love to have you join us for some creative time or to learn something new. January & February Classes

Happy New Year! It is a great time to learn something new and we are offering many classes to teach you a new craft/hobby. Everything from cake decorating to card making. Check out our calendar of classes and events here. If you see a class you would like to take stop in to register or give us a call, (320)-654-0907, as many classes still have openings. Cotton Fleece Yarn.

Any of you knitters or crocheters out there will be happy to know that our quilt shop now carries Cotton Fleece yarn in a variety of colors! I only photographed a few of the colors that we have available - but you can find the entire line and all the colors in aisle 27 of our store. It's perfect for any of those holiday gifts you still need to work on!

September Calendar of Events

It is that time of year again where we get back into the swing of things and offer more classes and do more events inside and outside of the store. We have been very busy preparing for our 20th Anniversary which started last Sunday, so with that started we finally had a chance to get the September calendar online. With summer going by so fast, September just snuck up on us. Sorry for the Delay. A few things have changed such as our Sit and Knit Night, and we added a Gypsy Class. In October we hope to add a Beginner Cake Decorating course and a Bridal class or two. Be sure to check out September's calendar as we have a lot planned, not only classes but make & takes and a Cricut Cake demo.

Januray 2010 Events Calendar

The January calendar is now on our website. We are offering many classes this January. We are also offering the the Happily Ever After (HEA) classes again, for all you brides to be. As for the Knitting 201 and the Sock-it-to-me (knitting class) we have changed out the projects with different patterns and yarn. Mini Book Club for January is adorable, as it is a recipe book made from a Kaiser album and Cosmo Cricket's Early Bird Line. I will definitely be taking that class.

Season has created some new pieces for each of the beading classes, that include wire wrapping. Cricut Classes are returning, as well and always seem to be popular after the Holidays, along with Scrap Days & Nights.

Crochet 101 is still being offered, and our Crochet Night will start up again, being held on each Tuesday night from 6pm to 9pm at Meeting Grounds Coffee Shop located in the front corner of our store. Sit & Knit is held on Thursday Nights each week at the coffee shop as well.

Oh I almost forgot... Card Chaos is back on the calendar as Sarah Lynn needed a break from all the card classes we offered in November. She is well rested and has some cute card ideas for January. We hope to see you in one of our many classes.

August Class Calendar

You can view the August calendar here or download here. I have been busy working with instructors to get more classes lined up this fall. Our knitting, crochet and Cricut classes will be starting up again in September. I hope to have September's calendar ready to post the first part of August. Pictured is the project that will be completed in Mini Book Club in August. Nicole did a great job designing this one and just wait until you see the mini book she created for September. Classes, Classes, & More Classes!

I have been busy working on May's Calendar of Events, and I am pretty excited about what we are offering. (It will be posted once I have dates finalized.) Our classes have been going over extremely well, and are planing on offering classes on specific projects in the near future. Season, who works in the Beads & Basics Dept is going start teaching our beading classes this May. She is a very talented person and came up with some pretty amazing projects for the beading 101 & 201 classes. Here is a sneak peak...

The turquoise Tassel necklace is the Beading 101 class project and the copper pendant necklace and earrings are the beading 201 projects. We still have openings in some of our classes we are offering this month, such as Mini Book Club, Crochet 101, Rosemaling, Cricut 101, and Knitting 201. Every Tuesday we have Open Crochet Night and every Thursday Sit & Knit. Check the calendar for more information.

Crocheted Bath Mitts for Kids!

It just amazes me how many talented people work here, Gerri who actually works in the Floral Dept. made these samples for us. She did such a wonderful job and aren't they adorable? The patterns are in the Annie's Attic book "Fun Time Bath Mitts", stop in and pick up a copy today for a quick and easy project.

Open Crochet Night Canceled This Evening

14 Days of Love: Day 4

Day 4: Crocheted Sweetheart Garland - This is such and adorable garland and when I came across it I knew I had to share it with you. It happens to be perfect for one of the 14 Days of Love, and a great way to use up some of those yarn scraps. There is a complete tutorial on how to make this Crocheted Sweetheart Garland on Cassi Griffin's blog, Bella Dia. She has so many great ideas you should check it out.

Open Crochet Night is canceled for this evening. Our instructor is stuck out of town with car trouble (gotta love winter weather) making her unable to attend Open Crochet Night, to answer any questions you may have. We are sorry about the inconvenience, but you are more than welcome to come sit in our customer lounge and crochet your heart out.

2009 Craft Classes!

Open Crochet Night Tonight!

Our instructor is sick and not able to be here tonight to answer questions or help you if needed, during tonight's Open Crochet Night. You are still more than welcome to come sit, relax and crochet until your hearts content.

Open Crochet Night on Tuesdays!

We are now offering free open crochet nights on Tuesdays, starting October 7th. They will be held in our Customer Lounge. Anyone from expert to beginner is welcome to stop in, sit and crochet. Our crochet instructor will be available to answer any questions you may have or help you out. We hope that you'll take advantage of this and join us for a relaxing time.

Yarn Organizer!

One of my favorite blogs is Craft:, also called Craftzine. They post many different ideas and one recent post was a yarn organizer using magazine holders. I thought this was a great way to organize yarn (if you have the space), because you are able to see what you have. Joana Vasconcelos is a Portuguese artist who creates crochet covers, patterning existing objects. I think it's amazing when something that is considered a craft/hobby can be turned into art. Check out these pictures.

Knit for a Cause (part deux)!

We are very excited to help out a fellow craft store of Blacksburg, VA (The Mosaic Yarn Shop) in their effort to make blankets for the families of victims of the events at Virginia Tech. They will also be making blankets for those who were injured. They are collecting knitted or crocheted 8” X 8” squares through the month of May. Please bring in your squares by May 31st so that we may send them as soon as possible so they can be bound together in blankets. Also include your name and where you are from so that these families can know they are supported by others all over the country. For more information on the cause you can check out the MOSAIC YARN SHOP'S BLOG. When you bring in your squares you will receive a coupon for 30% off your next entire yarn purchase (1 per person).
