Win It Wednedsay: Easter Countdown Project Kit.

Welcome to another WIN IT WEDNESDAY! This week our Win It Wednesday Giveaway is a project kit with all the supplies you need to create your own Countdown to Easter Frame. Day 7: Pallet Plaque

A quick and easy project for your Saturday. For this project we simply painted one of our Pallet Plaques, added a vinyl saying and embellished it with a Glitter Poinsettia Pick. Easy enough for anyone to create and the finished piece is amazing!

Day 4: Curly Geo Mesh Wreath

Of course you've seen our Geo Mesh Wreaths before - but have you seen this new version we have been creating? Guess What: Paracord!

 

This weeks Guess What product was... Parachute Cord (Paracord)!

You can find the Paracord on a back endcap in-between aisles 21 & 22, as well as in aisle 22. We have lots of colors to chose from. We also carry idea books, buckles for creating bracelets and necklaces, and completed pieces using Paracord too.

Paper Straws.

Today I have a very fun and super easy project to share with you - plus the end result is adorable!!

Check out this great paper straw wreath that our Floral department created!!
And with just a few steps you can create one too.

Paper Straw Wreath

Supplies:
• 12 in. Green Wire Wreath Form
• 5 yds. Your choice 1 ½ inch satin Ribbon
• 2 pkgs. Your choice paper straws
• 1 pkg. Your choice pom-poms
• Hot Glue


Directions:
1. Wrap satin ribbon around wire wreath form tightly.
2. Hot glue paper straws around at different lengths and to your preference.
3. Glue pom-poms around center covering the ends of the paper straws.




We created our sample using the black straws - but have a good selection of colors available so you can easily chose colors to match your space/party colors/or holiday (I'm thinking a red and white one would be great for Valentine's Day!).

You can find the supplies to create your own Paper Straw Wreath - or just pick up the paper straws to use on their own on the middle endcap of aisle 1 in the Floral Department.

While your there - also be sure to take a peek at the place settings/favor display they created as well - love the jars with Sixlets!

 

25 Days of Christmas 2012: Day 3

Day 3: S is for Santa Paper Mache Letter

Today I wanted to share one of our paper mache letters that we decorated in a Santa theme. This would be a great decor piece and is very easy to create - all we did was paint the letter with red paint, added a belt buckle (which you purchase as shown) and then used hot glue to add the feather boa to the two edges of the letter. You can find all our large paper mache letters in the back of the store by our Beads & Basics demo counter.

Crayon Canvases.

A few months ago we had shared some of the canvases we created by melting crayons with a hairdryer. Today I wanted to share a few more project ideas using the same technique. You can find a project sheet with the general instructions on our site here.

For this Create Canvas we adhered the wood "Create" word to the canvas and then glued and melted all the colors of a standard box of crayons onto a white canvas.

We also created this rectangular Flower Canvas using the greens, yellows, and orange crayon from a box, and then embellished the canvas with flowers of coordinating colors.

Finally, we also wanted to show a project idea using just a small 8 count box of crayons. For this project we first painted the canvas and then added the crayons (which were melted) and rhinestones

Mrs. & Mr. Letters.

Today I wanted to share a quick (and VERY cute) project that I spotted in our Floral department. Using some of our finished wood letters and rhinestone ribbon, they created this adorable display that would be perfect for any wedding. Added to a wedding arch, a head table, guest book, or cake table these decorated letters are a fun and inexpensive decoration to add to your wedding decor options.

A few other ideas in ways you could use the rhinestone letters - initials for each person in the wedding party (as a place setting and a gift), the wedding couples last name spelled out, a graduates name spelled out for a decoration at a grad party...so many ideas on where you could take this idea!!


You can find the wood letters - in this style as well as others - in aisle 17 and the rhinestone ribbon in aisle 1 of the floral department.

Subway Art.

Last week we received some new vinyl and over the weekend I worked on some store samples to share with you. I really love how they turned out!

Lately we have been seeing a lot of these Subway Art pieces and with these vinyl options the ability to make your own just got much easier.

The vinyl comes on one single sheet and we ordered them specifically to fit onto the canvas or wood pieces that we already have available in the store. So really all you need is to decide what vinyl you like the best, what you want to put it on, and possibly a paint color. The process of making them is just as simple. In the case of the canvas samples I just painted the canvases using Ceramcoat paint and a foam brush, then once it was dry centered and applied the vinyl. The vinyl on the wood square was even easier. I added the vinyl right to the piece as it and then embellished with a few paper flowers and buttons.

I have a hard time choosing but I'm wondering....which one is your favorite?

Back to School.

If you're anything like me, the start of school always seems to sneak up out of nowhere. Between enjoying those last few free days of summer and slowing gathering the necessary supplies somehow the first day is here before you know it.

This week I attended the school open house event for my kids, met all their teachers, and was immediately in a panic about what we should make each of them for a back to school gift.

But in the time frame of a few hours yesterday we came up with some really fun ideas for teacher gifts - and of course I wanted to share them with all of you as well.

Now my only problem is deciding which one to make for their teachers this weekend!

Teaching Touches Lives glass block: Simply adhere a piece of pattern paper to the back of a glass block, add vinyl to the front, tie a ribbon around, and fill with some glass beads. I think this would look great on any teacher's desk!

Back to School Mason Jars: Simple mason jars embellished with chalkboard paint, crayons, and some ribbon.

Pencil Tubes: Fill plastic tubes with treats or cover with paper to create the look of pencil. More information on this project can be found here.


Colored Pencil Vase: For this project we just surrounded a glass vase with colored pencils and tied a ruler ribbon around the outside. We placed artificial flowers in the vase but it would work with a bouquet of fresh flowers as well.

Decorated Notepad/Pencil Holder: We offer these pencil holders and a variety of styles of notebooks plain - for theses samples we just decorated them up a bit with pattern paper and a few embellishments.

"Grind" Gift Card Holder: Again using the plastic tubes, we filled one up with coffee beans (you could also use chocolate covered espresso beans) and added a gift tag and a coffee shop gift card with ribbon. Really simple but so cute!

#1 Teacher Pencil Block: For this project we drilled nine small holes in the top of a wood block, painted the block white, and then added some pattern paper, ribbon, and a cute message using alphabet stickers. Again, a project that I think would be a fun addition to any teacher's desk!

Firefly Jars.

This morning I shared a quick video of the Firefly Jars project that we have in the store on Twitter and Facebook (you can find the video HERE).

I thought I would also link everything up here with a photo and the project sheet as well. Everything you need to make the project is available on an endcap at the front of the store in-between aisles 20 & 21.

As I mentioned in the video I think these would be a great decor addition to any deck, patio or outside area for your summer BBQ's and get togethers. There is something so whimsical and fun about them when they are lit up...they definitely bring me back to my childhood when I really did bring jars full of fireflies into my room for the night.

Photo Trays.

If you are looking for a fun and easy project this week, we have the perfect idea for you!

The following samples were created using our SPC Trays. With a few pieces of paper and a couple of embellishments you can easily put these pieces together. Use them to display some of your favorite photos, or create one for a perfect baby, graduation, or anniversary gift.

The trays can be found in aisle 17 and better yet now through July 2nd they are offered in our current ad for the sale price of $8.88!

Free Make & Takes This Saturday

Celebrate National Scrapbook Day with us, this Saturday May 7th! We will be offering 2 different make & takes, while supplies last. They will be held at the Paper Crafts demo counter, at the end of aisle 11.The first one will run from 11:30am to 1:30pm. It is this adorable pocket size birthday's to remember book. Created using the Bind-it-All and the new Doodlebug Design Birthday Celebration line.The second one will run from 2pm to 4pm. It is this stylish notepad.
