Project Ideas: Loom Band Bracelets.
Earlier this week I share the project samples and instructional video on some of our other social media sites, but I wanted to quickly share all of the information we have put together on how to make your own bracelets here too!
First, we have created a couple of project samples - using two different methods to making the bracelets:
Second, you can now find a project sheet with detailed instructions and photos to walk you through the process on our website HERE.
And finally, you can also find an instructional video we put together here:
You can find all the supplies you need to get started right here at Crafts Direct! We have an entire front endcap (between aisles 24&25) devoted to everything Loom Band.

Kids Crafts: Foamies.
Today I have an entire aisle of one type of product (although we have LOTS of different pieces/options/choices) that are perfect for Kid Crafting! If you take a peek down aisle 24 in our Paints and Basics department you will find every color, size, shape, and style of FOAMIE PRODUCT you can imagine.
From sheets, to embellishments, to kits, to pieces to alter (can cozies, visors, door hangers, etc) we have enough items and ideas to keep any kid - or adult - busy for days. What I love about these pieces is that you can go with a kit or piece to alter and have it be very manageable and planned or you can just grab a few sheets and let creativity come to life.
The foamie sheets do come in so many colors and sizes - and also come in scented and glitter options as well if you need something that stands out a bit more.
Foamie projects are also great for younger crafters and they are such affordable crafting supplies too!

Kids Crafts: Painting & Coloring Kits.
One more Kids Crafts post for you this week! If you know any kids that love to paint or draw some of the products I have to show you today will be perfect!
First, we have these fun painting by number kits. I like these particular kits because they come in varying degrees of difficulty (with subject matter that matches the intended skill age). And they are not to large to be overwhelming but will keep the kids busy for awhile.
The same company also makes the same type of kit with colored pencils instead of paint. A little less messy and would be great to pack along for a road trip or vacation!
Finally, you've probably seen the velvet coloring pieces before, but we do also have these items as "kits" that come with the sheets to color and the markers. These aren't color by number but it is nice that they come with everything you need for the kids to create a masterpiece.
You can find all of these items in aisle 24 of our Paints & Basics department.

Kids Crafts: Crafting Kits.
Today we are going to head back down to aisle 24 - where I have some more fun kids crafting ideas to share with you!
First, our Melissa and Doug items recently got reset in this aisle as well and we even added to the selection of their products too! These are always a go to for our family as they are entertaining, fun and great quality pieces. And while these don't technically require "crafting" - they are perfect for keeping the kids busy.
Also in aisle 24, you can find a few different types of crafting kits. I like the idea behind these kits for a few reasons. First, you can easily grab a kit and go - you don't have to put a lot of time into deciding on particular craft to choose while shopping. Second, there are a lot of different pieces/crafts included in each kit. And finally, the pieces of the kits can be adapted for many different ages and crafting abilities.
We have a couple more general kits and also a couple more specific to sewing and yarn. Any of the kits would also make a great gift for any crafty kids you know too!

Kids Crafts: Perler Beads.
We've definitely reached that point of the summer where I have been hearing more and more from my kids the two dreaded words of "I'm bored". Of course we still go to the staples of read a book, write a letter, play with x,y, or z, go outside, etc....but sometimes the best idea is to give them a craft to work on!
Not only are they fun, but they can be educational, and better yet entertaining!
Over the next few weeks I'm excited to share some of the crafting kits, products, and project ideas that we have available for you and your kids.
Today I thought I would start with a staple around our house - PERLER BEADS. My kids started creating with Perler beads a couple of years ago - and I love that there are even more kits and options available now. I'm also excited that the kits we have available now include some that are a bit more challenging for older kids and as well as kits of the "Biggie Beads" for the younger kids who are just starting to get in on the fun!
We have lots of different options when it comes to what products to start with - we have kits (both with supplies to create a few projects and single project packages), buckets of beads, templates, and even idea books.
You can find all of our Perler bead products in aisle 24 of our Paints & Basics department.

Kids Crafts: Pop Beads
As we start the days of summer vacation I'm always reminded pretty quickly that I need to stock up on both ideas and supplies to keep the kids busy during those lulls in activity, afternoons you need a little quiet, or (especially in the case of this year so far) those cold and rainy days.
Of course sometimes crafting time could include projects and more detailed pieces, but sometimes all you need is something that kids can complete themselves. Today I wanted to share with you these Pop-Bead sets that we have available in aisle 19 of the store. They are great little sets and are perfect for pre-school aged to elementary aged kids. One of the best parts is that they can be taken apart and used again and again!

New in Paints & Basics.
With all of the project sharing lately I haven't shared as much of the "what's new" from the various departments here on the blog. Today I wanted to share a few of the new items from our Paints & Basics department - and watch for other new items from other departments coming soon too!
Some of the fun new items in Paints & Basics include:
New duct tape styles: including licensed styles like Super Mario Bros &Angry Birds:
We also have a bunch of new kits for kids - that include some dress up items (capes, vests, etc.) and some project kits too:
For kids a bit older we also have these new Makedo kits - which are crafty kits that also encourage using recycled materials.
Finally, I shared these on our Facebook page a few weeks ago, but I really like these new plastic containers. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can easily be filled with treats, trinkets, etc. I also think they would be great as little gifts/favors for various events.
Using a couple of these pieces with sixlets and a few simple embellishments we created samples of a baby shower favor and a teacher gift idea.
