Glossy Accents Pendant Tutorial

Staff member Erica created this tutorial for a Glossy Accents Pendant project. Although there are many other ways to create a pendant such as with a glass tile, wood tile or bottle cap, this method seems to be the easiest and cost effective.

Washi Week: Thursday.

Our Washi Week projects today include some great home decor projects as well as a fun Washi Tape jewelry project too! As with our previous Washi Tape projects all of these projects are really so easy to complete as all you really need to do is stick down tape to the piece you are altering. Then just add a few embellishments and you have a completed piece.

New Items at CHA

Today was our final day at the CHA show. We definitely could have used one (or two) more days. It was unbelievable how many vendors there were!

Some of the most exciting things that we saw there (and purchased for you) include:

- Beads, Beads and more Beads (and yet again still more beads) - just don't tell our boss!
- Beadalon came out with a ton of new items ( New tools, Crinkle wire, Velour cording, Wire twister ) Just to name a few.

- Blue Moon came out with a ton, I repeat, a TON of new lines (not all are available at the moment- but as soon as they are, believe me we will be ordering them!) We did however pick up their new Natural Elegance Line (which includes tons of cool chains, findings and charms!)

- Walnut Hollow: They have a new line of unfinished wood boxes made our of bamboo. (which we bought - for all the people who have trouble finding a surface to paint on.)

-One company we saw that we are excited about is Alter Ego. They have "everything from soup to nuts" : Trays, boxes, fruit bowls, office organizers... all made of a MDF board.

- Make sure to look for new Craft Books in all the departments from Design Originals

We are still reeling from the show and will post more later- once we've gotten over the shock of all the new stuff we've seen.

Beading Classes!

This year there were SEVEN different beading classes offered. Between Dona and I we were able to take all of them and are very excited to share them with our customers and co-workers. Whenever I take a beading class I come away so inspired and ready to bead for days.

We will be sharing some of the techniques we learned during our Anniversary Sale. We are having Lunch Hour Seminars and Happy Hour Seminars during August.

Some of the new techniques we learned include:
- Making your own Jewelry Findings
- Woven 3-D Crystal Bracelet Project
- Beginning Chainmail
- Chainmail Earings
- Wire Wrapped Pendants
- Crystal Stackable Bracelets
- Chainlink Necklace

The classes were all very inspiring and we can't wait to share them all with you.

Wooden Jewelry set

My project today is a good project for just about anyone you don't have to be an expert in any particular crafts to be able to do it. We made a necklace and earring using some small wood shapes with funky scrapbooking paper mod podged on. To dress it up a bit more we added a matching jewelry box, this would be perfect for giving your projects as gifts. To attach your wood shapes you will need 1 package of chain, matching jump rings, and your choice of clasp and earring. We used 3 different types of 12x12 scrapbooking paper to have variety but you can use just one if you want to keep the design simple. I will be back Monday with more projects. Also we will have the projects from the Crafting Contest on display starting Monday so come in and get your vote in! At the end of the two weeks of voting, we will place all of the ballots in a drawing for 10 $10.00 gift cards. You can vote once a day for the next two weeks so make sure you get your name in the drawing as much as possible! Have a great weekend! Tiff
