Welcome to Knit Wits!

Hello everyone, and thanks for taking the time to check in on our great site!

My name is Julie, and I am the knitting instructor at Crafts Direct! Wow, how lucky am I doing something I love as my job! I like to think of myself as the Crafts Direct 'knit wit' at Crafts Direct on a mission to convert others and bring them in to my 'knit wit' fold! I chose the moniker 'knit-wit' as a loving name to display our interest in knitting and our witty personalities as well! As I tell all my knitting newbies - I am an addict and I need more people to join me!

As this is my first blog entry, I wanted to tell you a bit about our knitting at Craft's Direct. We offer beginning classes that concentrate on learning the basics of the knit and purl stitch, as well as additional project classes including knitting socks, mittens, hats, cables... a little something for everyone to try!

In addition to our classes, we offer a great opportunity to mix and mingle, get a little help when your knitting is in knots, and meet other 'knit-wits' that share your interest! These free meeting sessions are a great place to relax, gather together to knit, and share with others:
  • Thursday evenings at Crafts Direct 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the store lounge and
  • Monday evenings at Caribou Coffee on 25th Ave North 6:00pm to 9:00

So, bookmark our website, check in regularly, watch for new class offerings, and feel free to drop in and meet the other wonderful 'knit-wits' at Craft's Direct! I assure you, you will love the people and the fun!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

- Julie the 'knit-wit'!

  1. Hi Julie,

Some products I would love to see at Crafts Direct:

    Lion Brand Cotton Bamboo yarn,
    Bernat Baby Cotton
Lion Brand Sweater Stone (for removing fuzzies and nubbies)

I had to purchase a Needlemaster interchangeable circular needle set at the "other" craft store in St. Cloud, 'cus Crafts Direct did not carry it.

  2. I am hoping Crafts Direct will carry the Bernat Handicraft Cotton in 12, 13 and 14 oz skeins (Ombres, twists and solids have different sizes.)

Has anyone been following the knit and crochet flower patterns from the Lion Brand newsletter? That would be a book to have!

I am looking for simple cat and dog patterns to knit.

  3. Hi Patricia! It is always great to see you Thursday nights, and I love the suggestions for new yarns! I passed these on and I will let you know if or when they become a part of the Craft's Direct yarn selection!

  4. Hello Raveled, may I call you Raveled? :)

Great Bernat choice to recommend! Those colors are beautiful and we all appreciate a nice cotton for summer knitting! I will definitely send this request on!

For pet patterns, we have a few cute ones in the last aisle for coats, but I will do some seeking for cat patterns. Are you looking for coats and the like, or toys, or beds? Some fun patterns for pets would be a lovely pattern addition!

I do follow the Lion News letter, and I will check into the flower patterns for a book - good idea!

Thanks so much for the feedback and as always, happy knitting!
