Classroom Chairs

Hey everyone! This is my first official blog for Crafts Direct. I have been working here for almost 5 years now in all areas of the store, everything from Customer Service to the behind the scenes office and computer work. But today I'm here to tell you about a very exciting addition to our classroom...........new chairs!! This is especially exciting for our all day scrappers who spend over 10 hours a day in them. Our classroom is also open to use (for free!) for anyone who is interested in using it for the day or for just a few hours. So stop on by and give the new chairs a whirl!

Stitch 'N Pitch Night with the Twins!

So, it was brought to my attention this morning of a super exciting event happening July 22nd and I couldn't wait to share it with you! The Twins are teaming up with The National NeedleArts Association and hosting a Stitch 'N Pitch Night. "Share the passion of the Twins along side other enthusiasts in your Metrodome seat where you can knit, crochet, cross-stitch, embroider or needlepoint during the game." Not only that but some sweet extras on the side. You will receive a $20 Upper Club ticket, 20% off concessions when you purchase "Dome Dollars", and there will also be teaching tables from 11am - 1pm with free lessons and expert advise. If you are one of the first 500 to sign up you get a free "Stitch N' Pitch" Tote Bag so make sure to get your ticket ASAP, the game is Sunday July 22nd at 1:10pm. Open Teaching Positions

We are looking for creative people who are interested in teaching some of our classes starting in August and September. The classes are normally offered once or twice a month every month. Prior experience is encouraged. We are looking for teachers in the following areas:

-Knitting
-Crochet
-Felting
-Quilting
-Sewing
-One-stroke Painting
-Digital Scrapbooking.

If this position is one that you are interested in please pick up an application at Customer Service or on our website. Please keep in mind that if you are called for an interview we will ask for you to bring samples of your work.

All Day Scrap this weekend!

Just wanted to remind everyone to get signed up for All Day Scrap this Saturday we have some spots left. If you haven't been before it is a nice way to get away from all the distractions and spend some time crafting. The class runs from 9:30am - 7:30 pm. We have great prizes, lots of food and snacks, and discounts for the store! You can sign up at our store at Customer Service or by calling 320.654.0907. (Payment for the class is due at sign-up to reserve your spot.)

Maya Road Chipboard Frame

Check out this cute new frame that Kristine made using Maya Road chipboard! Here's how to make one of your own...SUPPLIES: • Maya Road or Darice blank frame • Maya Road chipboard scrolls • Maya Road Blossoms • Rhinestones • Glue Pad by Tsukineko • Ultra fine Glitter • E6000 (glue) • Acrylic paint (Light Ivory, Green Tea, and Think Pink by Ceramcoat) • Acrylic Spray | DIRECTIONS: 1. Remove the glass and backing from your frame. 2. Begin by painting your frame, chipboard scrolls and blossoms with acrylic paint of your choice. We used Ceramcoat paint: Light Ivory for the frame, Green Tea for the scrolls, and Think Pink for the blossoms. To give the blossoms more dimension drybrush the edges with acrylic paint a shade darker. 3. After your paint has dried completely use your glue pad to rub the side of your frame, scrolls, and blossoms that you want glitter on. Sprinkle glitter onto the side with glue while it is still tacky. 4. Spray all of your pieces with a clear acrylic spray to seal it and prevent the glitter from coming off your frame. 5. Attach your scrolls and blossoms to the frame using E6000 glue, to accent your blossoms you can also glue a rhinestone in the center of each flower. A few of the blossoms can be adhered with 3D tape to add more dimension. 6. Place the glass and backing into the frame along with the perfect picture!

Crafts Direct Float

Hello again, I just wanted to give you a sneak peek at our float that I have been working on. We were already in the Sartell and Waite Park parades this weekend but make sure to look for us at upcoming parades! If you are a fan of the float or think it looks familiar we used Cosmo Cricket paper and Sandylion Stickers. (It also looks like our latest billboard, if you haven't seen it)

Going Green

I just wanted to thank all of you who participated in last weekends Bring Your Own Bag sale. It was a lot of fun for us to put together and turned out great. We have affected a few who are still bringing there own bags this week and were really excited about the idea. This is great to see! for those of you who are still interested in finding ways to make a positive effect on the environment check out some of these sites I have found. We just got in our shipment of KI Memories and the new Love, Elsie collection! We are so excited for this line because it really is a unique collection with a lot of new pieces that you might not have seen until now. The line includes several fun papers with a handmade feel as well as cloth sticker paper. Of course they also have chipboard embellishments and clear stamps so you can go crazy and do a whole album!

Custom Signs

Last week we just put up a new section in our store dedicated entirely to making custom signs for your home. We have carried signs that are pre-made ready to hang on your wall but now you can adjust them to the colors and sayings that best fit you and your family! You can find out new sign section right next the the pre-made ones right when you walk in the door. We also have saying that go on 12x12 tiles or plates. It is probably the quickest and easiest craft I have ever done. The letters are made from vinyl, all you have to do is peel away the backing and stick them down just like you would a sticker or a rub-on and then your done! Here are a couple samples that we really liked that we did for the store.
