Mother's Day is this weekend already! Can you believe it? What would mom want more than something homemade from you. If you think about it your mom probably held on to all of those handcrafted gifts that you gave her when you were little, but as for the cards that were bought, they were probably thrown away through the years. This card is one that it is simple enough for everyone to do, (we have 1st and 2nd graders making them at our store this week).
You will need: • Blank card and envelope of your choice, you can also use a sheet of cardstock cut to the size of your envelope. • (2) 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of coordinating solid color cardstock. • coordinating scrap pieces of paper • flower stamp • 1" circle punch • corner rounding punch • Happy Mother's Day stamp (Optional) •Adhesive of your choice
1. First you will start by cutting out a 3 x 5" rectangle from one of the sheets of solid color cardstock (we used Light Totally Tan). Round the edges using your corner rounding punch. Adhere to the center of your card using your choice of adhesive (we used double sided tape).
2. Next punch out 15 circles from your scrap paper using a 1"punch, we used a variety of patterns to give it a quilted effect but you can also use all the same paper or even 2 or 3 coordinating patterns. Attach these to your card in even rows (glue dots work really well).
3. Out of your last sheet of solid cardstock you will need to cut a 2 x 2" square are round the edges using your corner punch. On this piece you can stamp your flower. letting the stamp run off of the page can add a nice counter balance to the symmetry of your background.
4. On the inside of your card you can either use a Mother's Day stamp or just write a personal message of your own!
I hope you have fun crafting and have a Happy Mother's Day!
