Knit for a Cause (part deux)!
We are very excited to help out a fellow craft store of Blacksburg, VA (The Mosaic Yarn Shop) in their effort to make blankets for the families of victims of the events at Virginia Tech. They will also be making blankets for those who were injured. They are collecting knitted or crocheted 8” X 8” squares through the month of May. Please bring in your squares by May 31st so that we may send them as soon as possible so they can be bound together in blankets. Also include your name and where you are from so that these families can know they are supported by others all over the country. For more information on the cause you can check out the MOSAIC YARN SHOP'S BLOG. When you bring in your squares you will receive a coupon for 30% off your next entire yarn purchase (1 per person).
REQUIREMENTS
Pattern: Any,
Color: Maroon, Burnt Orange, White, Black (School Colors)
*Please knit or crochet squares out of the nicest softest yarn you can afford
Thank you so much for contributing to this cause we are hoping to surprise them with boxes full of squares!

Savvy Scoop Newsletter!!
We are very excited to announce that Savvy Scoop is now being extended into a quarterly newsletter! You will want to make sure to get signed up for our mailing list the next time you are at Crafts Direct. The newsletter will include step by step project ideas and store news as well as a section that is not part of our blog called Savvy Deals! We will be able to send exclusive coupons for specialty items and even some fun freebies. I also wanted to make sure and remind you about the craft fair in St. Paul this weekend, the Craftstravaganza! It is a great way to get inspired to become a professional crafter yourself. Even our very own advertising guy Nate will be part of the live music! Come and check it out!

Getting lost in the web of craft!
Previously I had told you about the Urban Craft Uprising and how as Minnesotans we are lucky because we have two such craft fairs right at our fingertips, one this April in St. Paul. However, I don't think I mentioned as I was finding all this information how much crafting is happening online. I was reminded of this when one of our employees, Valerie, gave me a list of some of her favorite craft blogs. As I started looking I encountered lists and lists of people out there crafting like crazy and blogging about it. I was overwhelmed with all the ideas and links to other ideas that I got to the point where I didn't even know where I started or how I got to the page I was on. It was overwhelming but in a great way! I found myself full of fun craft project ideas and bursting at the seams with which one to start first. So my challenge for you today is to get lost in the web of craft and get inspired!! Here is something that I found today as I was "lost" and I thought I would share, it is a group that has adopted the "Craft Mafia" name and are banning together to celebrate crafting. (Hope this works!)
Also we are starting a list of Sites we love on our blog to get you started, please let us know what fun stuff you find so we can add to this list or even to add fun new product to our store!

Amy Butler is Here!
It has finally arrived! We have been working hard to get Amy Butler fabric for you. If you haven't heard of it, her new line Lotus is a collection of vintage fabrics. To learn more about Amy visit her website www.amybutlerdesign.com. We have carried her patterns for awhile and if you have been keeping up with recent blogs we are also getting her line of scrapbooking supplies as well (the possibilities!). I am already gearing up to make a duvet cover with the pink flowered pattern. I found a pattern in one of our new books, Simple Sewing with a French Twist by Celine Dupuy. It is perfect if you are a beginner sewer or are like me and know only the basics. It is a guide to tools, fabrics, how-to, as well as tons of modern "french inspired" patterns straight from Paris. Another cute fabric collection we just got in is Dick and Jane by Michael Miller, based on the popular Dick and Jane books. It is perfect for kids quilts, blankets, or even a funky pillow or tote for yourself! Okay I probably have you on "new stuff" overload so I am just going to have to recommend you check out the fabric department yourself because they are getting in so many fun things every week (if you get a chance check out our new trims!).
