O.K. Who says that spring and summer months makes for slow crafting? That really doesn't seem to be the case here. We have been busy filling up the area with lots of new things. We have just received a HUGE order of tea towels. Lots of new styles. checks, stripes and waffle weaves and some really cool new colors.They will be a lot of fun for all you embroiderers or those of you who have caught the embellishing tea towel fever. We are expecting lots of new lines of fabrics to start arriving soon from Thimble berries, Michael Miller, Red Rooster, Robert Kaufman, RJR, Andover and Buggy Barn just to name a few. Christmas Fabrics, yes Christmas, will start showing up in June and July. We will be heading off to a Market the first part of June to buy more, more and more fabric.It should be lots of fun to see what's being released for winter. I can't wait! Hope to see you soon! Vinyl - It rocks!

So, I finally did my first vinyl project. And it was a lot easier than I was expecting. It makes the finished product look so polished and professional- I Love it! Yep, I'll soon be a vinyl addict. These are a few more samples that were created for the store. (Basically they are the reason I started my vinyl project.)

Check out this gorgeous painting that Sarah made. I told her I was going to steal it (and am seriously thinking about it!) She used acrylic paint for most of it- but also used some "Texture Magic" on the gold areas to created a raised/3-D effect. I just had to share it with you all.

National Scrapbook Day Celebration!!!

To celebrate National Scrapbook Day we are having a drawing Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. You can enter each day to win a bag full of goodies. Saturday & Sunday from 1pm to 3pm we are having free make-n-takes at the Paper Craft Demo Counter. On Saturday we are making a fun bracelet using Grungeboard. Sunday, we are making a journaling tag using these new iridescent flowers from Creative Impressions. They are just adorable and can be used for so many things. Letter Centerpieces

These centerpieces add a look of spring or summer to any table. Mirrored letters add a personal touch through the use of initials for the bride and groom or last name. Vinyl is something that we've had in the store for a while now, but people are thinking of all kinds of new ways to use it. It can be put on so many different surfaces, here's a few that we've tried: canvas, mirrors, wood, glass, baskets, the wall, frames, plates, bottles and just about anything else you can think of. Here's a few pictures I took of the samples we have in the store. Hopefully they'll inspire you to start a craft project using vinyl!

Mother's Day is sneaking up on us, and if you're anything like me you probably could use some help coming up with ideas. Well, you're in luck- because the people at Crafts Direct have been busy creating all kinds of new crafts. Here are three of the more recent samples they have made:

The other two projects are made using vinyl. Just pick out your favorite vinyl rub-on. Follow the directions on the package- and attach your vinyl to a glass block filled with candy, or a shadow -box frame with your favorite paper in the background. It's that simple!

I have to share this with you: Joana Vasconcelos is a Portuguese artist who creates crochet covers, patterning existing objects. I think it's amazing when something that is considered a craft/hobby can be turned into art. Check out these pictures.

Clay Tray, Frame and Canvas

Here is a project for those who just can't get enough clay in your life. Most people know who Donna Dewberry is and even if you don't you may still reconize her style of painting. Well, Polyform hired her to use their new Studio clay. I just couldn't resist doing one of the projects Donna came up with using the texture sheets. This project showed how to do a tray, a canvas and a frame. I hope this will inspire you to create your own home decor item.

Cricut Demo!

For all of you that have been inquiring about a Cricut class, we have actually scheduled a free demo. We decided to do it as a demo at the paper crafts demo counter so you can actually see how the machine works, since it is more of a visual & hands on learning experience. This demo is for those who already own a Cricut or Cricut Expression machine and have questions or for those who are looking into buying one and what to see how it works and all its features. The demo is on Saturday April 19th from 11am to 1pm. You can stop by anytime during that 2 hour period. We will be offering another class on the Cricut Design Studios Software early June. The exact date has not been decided, but we will keep you posted. We hope to see you then.

Card Make-n-Take

We are still celebrating National Craft Month here at Crafts Direct. For this weekend's make-n-take we are going to be making this cute card, using some new products we have received this week from Pebbles Inc. The line is called Duplicates, containing stickers and rub-ons, that are great for card making. The make-n-take will be Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 3pm. We hope to see you there.
