If you were at Women's Showcase and picked up a Class Calendar/Coupon the date listed under the description for Holiday Open House reads November 1st and it should be November 14th as it is listed on the calendar. Women's Showcase is being held at the St. Cloud Civic Center this Saturday from 9am to 4pm. Coat Share

We are a drop off site for Coat Share. This event is sponsored by YFC's Abigail's Closet and the Central MN Community Foundation.

You can bring in gently used winter outer wear items that will be distributed to local schools and non-profits organizations. Donations will be accepted through November 2nd.

With the snow this weekend and today, my family went through our winter wear items and found lots of great things to donate. Thank you to everyone that donates.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, Crafts Direct is helping raise awareness in the following ways:

1) T-Shirts: You may notice some of the employees at Crafts Direct wearing pink shirts on Fridays in October. A donation was collected for the Coborn Cancer Center, all the employees who donated, received a shirt to wear.

2) TV commercial: We have teamed with Charter to participate in the "Stop Breast Cancer for Life" campaign. For the next few weeks you'll probably see a few commercials.
We support the fight against Breast cancer and want to remind you that early detection can save lives!

3) Donations: Throughout the month of October we will also be collecting donations for the Coborn Cancer Center. When you make a donation, you can write your name on a paper that will then be displayed along with all the other wonderful people who have donated!

4) Think Pink: There is also an area by the registers with an assortment of pink merchandise for sale. A portion of the proceeds are donated to fight breast cancer.

Thanks for doing your part in the fight against breast cancer!

October Classes & Special November Card Chaos'

This is one of the many classes you can sign up for at Crafts Direct. This is our October Mini Book Club Project. Isn't it cute? Along with this class, we are also offering a Saturday All Day Scrap, Mitten Madness, Beading 201 and we still have opening for this Thursday's Card Chaos. These are some of the cards you can make in that class.These four Cards were designed by the very talented Heather, who also designs for Papertrey Ink .

For November's Card Chaos we have decided to make it a bit more fun. For November's classes only, when you take a card chaos class you will be making 10 cards instead of 8. We have had so many request just for a holiday card class so this is it. The cards will all be themed Winter/Christmas and we are taking an extra 4 people per class. Classes have been scheduled for Thursday, November 5th, and Tuesdays November 10th & November 17th, the cost is $15. You can stop in to register or give us a call at (320)654-0907, and remember preregistration is required as some classes do fill quickly. Quilt Show Today and Tomorrow!

The St. Cloud Heritage Quilters are putting on a quilt show today and tomorrow at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph. Halloween Glass Block Ideas

Well, with Halloween a little over a month away I decided that we needed some more glass block samples. I wanted to do something other than vinyl on them. So, as I was walking around the store I found some cute Halloween napkins that we sell and thought they would be perfect on the glass blocks. Turned out I was right. The dinner size ones fit nicely on the 7x7 glass block, and the beverage napkins worked great on the 5x5 glass block. I did have to cut apart the napkin to create the border on the 2 larger blocks. On the smaller block I just used ribbon to trim out the napkin for more of a finished look.

All you need are some napkins, Mod Podge, google eyes (a new love of mine), lights/LED tea light, ribbon/tulle, and buttons.
1. First remove the white layer from the back of the napkins.
2. Then cut out a square which will be a quarter of the napkin. Also cut the border out around the rest of the napkin as you will use this to piece together your border on the block if you are making a larger block.
3. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the front of the glass block. Making sure the opening is on the bottom(this is more crucial for the small one) place the napkin on top of the Mod Podge. Use your finger to gently smooth out the napkin. If you are using the napkin border apply the same way.
4. Once you have the napkin on the block cover with a few coats of Mod Podge.
5. Once dry add buttons, google eyes using Glue Dots. I used a glue runner to attach the ribbon around the spider napkin.
6. Wrap Glass block with ribbon or tulle, make bow use wire to secure and hot glue.
7. Insert a 20 ct light set in each of the larger glass blocks. For the smaller block I placed it over a LED tea light.

Free Kid's Craft with Spirit 92.9

I have been busy working on the September calendar, and have finally finished getting classes lined up. I am hoping to have the calendar up soon, but in the meantime, I would be more than happy to email you the classes Crafts Direct will be offering in September. Cricut Swarm Registration has Begun!

We had so much fun at our first Cricut Swarm that we have scheduled another one. Unfortunately, it is the same weekend as Little Falls Craft Sale, but it was the only full weekend that was open between now and the end of the year. You can find the Cricut Swarm invite here. Registration did start today but there are still openings. We are looking very forward to the event and hope you will join us.

Day Two of CHA!

It was another fun filled day at CHA as we visited with our Friends at Unity Stamp Co. where Angela and her team are so sweet and fun to work with. They also have the cutest stamps coming out, along with their Store Stampin' Kits, which we will be getting in. We also got the pleasure of meeting Donna Downey at the Unity Booth. We are also looking forward to getting in all the new My Mind's Eye lines, as well as Fancy Pants. It has been a fun time and we look forward to getting back to the store to share our excitement and finds with everyone else.
