Kids Crafts: Painting & Coloring Kits.

One more Kids Crafts post for you this week! If you know any kids that love to paint or draw some of the products I have to show you today will be perfect!

First, we have these fun painting by number kits. I like these particular kits because they come in varying degrees of difficulty (with subject matter that matches the intended skill age). And they are not to large to be overwhelming but will keep the kids busy for awhile.

The same company also makes the same type of kit with colored pencils instead of paint. A little less messy and would be great to pack along for a road trip or vacation!

Finally, you've probably seen the velvet coloring pieces before, but we do also have these items as "kits" that come with the sheets to color and the markers. These aren't color by number but it is nice that they come with everything you need for the kids to create a masterpiece.

You can find all of these items in aisle 24 of our Paints & Basics department.

Kids Crafts: Crafting Kits.

Today we are going to head back down to aisle 24 - where I have some more fun kids crafting ideas to share with you!

First, our Melissa and Doug items recently got reset in this aisle as well and we even added to the selection of their products too! These are always a go to for our family as they are entertaining, fun and great quality pieces. And while these don't technically require "crafting" - they are perfect for keeping the kids busy.

Also in aisle 24, you can find a few different types of crafting kits. I like the idea behind these kits for a few reasons. First, you can easily grab a kit and go - you don't have to put a lot of time into deciding on particular craft to choose while shopping. Second, there are a lot of different pieces/crafts included in each kit. And finally, the pieces of the kits can be adapted for many different ages and crafting abilities.

We have a couple more general kits and also a couple more specific to sewing and yarn. Any of the kits would also make a great gift for any crafty kids you know too!

Project Ideas: Paint Cans

The Paint Cans we carry in our Paints & Basics department can be used in so many ways - and embellished and decorated in even more!

Today I wanted to share a couple of the awesome new samples that our designer Melissa created using the Paint Cans and hopefully share some inspiration for your next creative project as well!

First, the Bingo Bucket! I love this project - perfect for the bingo player in your life - carry in all your bingo supplies in this fun bucket, or even use it to hold the supplies for your own bingo game at home. So great! And all you need to create this project is a bucket, letter stickers, bingo sheets, and some adhesive. For the complete instructions click here: Bingo Bucket.

Next, how fun is this Cowboy Themed Bucket?! This would be a great way to wrap up a gift for a cowboy (or cowgirl) you know - and would also make for great party decorations for your next bbq or country themed party.

For a recent grad, or someone starting a new job or adventure - this Dream Big paint can would be perfect. We added chalkboard paint to the lid to add a personalized message and the "Dream Big" is a vinyl saying that we applied to the outside of the bucket.

And finally, this Sparkle Paint Can was created using shapes punched from tissue paper and Sparkle Mod Podge. Such a bright, fun project and really who doesn't love a little extra Sparkle now and then!

Kids Crafts: Perler Beads.

We've definitely reached that point of the summer where I have been hearing more and more from my kids the two dreaded words of "I'm bored". Of course we still go to the staples of read a book, write a letter, play with x,y, or z, go outside, etc....but sometimes the best idea is to give them a craft to work on!

Not only are they fun, but they can be educational, and better yet entertaining!

Over the next few weeks I'm excited to share some of the crafting kits, products, and project ideas that we have available for you and your kids.

Today I thought I would start with a staple around our house - PERLER BEADS. My kids started creating with Perler beads a couple of years ago - and I love that there are even more kits and options available now. I'm also excited that the kits we have available now include some that are a bit more challenging for older kids and as well as kits of the "Biggie Beads" for the younger kids who are just starting to get in on the fun!

We have lots of different options when it comes to what products to start with - we have kits (both with supplies to create a few projects and single project packages), buckets of beads, templates, and even idea books.

You can find all of our Perler bead products in aisle 24 of our Paints & Basics department.

Upcoming Event: Project Life Make & Take.

Mark your calendars: Crafts Direct is hosting a FREE Project Life Make & Take this Saturday, July 20th from 1-3pm!

If you've been curious about Project Life or wondering where to start - or just want to check out the new page protector and core kit designs you will want to stop by our Paper Crafts demo counter for this Make & Take.

Each participant will receive one Project Life page protector as well as a few cards to place in the pockets of the page. You can then finish the layout by adding your own photos and embellishments. Then just like that you will be on your way to starting your Project Life album.

We would love to have you join us and hope to see you there!

New in Gifts - Part 2.

Welcome back for more sharing of new products from our Gifts Department. As I mentioned yesterday there are a lot of new items! And while yesterdays post focused on mainly one section of the department and all the new products in it - today's post is a little more diverse with new items and most have different homes throughout the store as well.

First up - we have a new line of Baby Books and Baby's first year calendars. These are perfect for getting some of those first year memories down and are simple and ready to go as they are. If scrapbooking isn't your thing, or maybe you want to fill out a baby book in addition to creating a scrapbook these are perfect. They would also make a wonderful gift for expecting parents too! You can find them in the front of the store by aisles 31&32 (by the wrapping paper and cards).

Another fun item are these cute coin purses - great for holding little items in your bag (and I know little girls love these coin purses too!) You can find them by the jewelry room at the front of aisle 15.

Across the aisle from the coin purses, you can find these dog themed hanging signs - if you have a furry friend at home I know you will love these signs! The illustrations are great and the sayings on the signs perfect.

Our candle room has a fun new items too, including new Drizzle Melts in a wide variety of scents.

We also have new holders for the melts in the form of plug in lights - these are great because they serve as a light, a decoration, and a melt base all without an open flame or taking up a lot of space.

And we have a new line of standard nightlights as well.

In our candle room you can find a new line of candles that have been very popular! The line of Swan Creek Candles comes in a variety of scents such as Warm Cinnamon Buns, Lemon Icebox Cookies, and Thai Pear.

The last new item from the candle room are the new Car Vent Sticks from Yankee Candle - they come in a package of four and we have them available in a few different scents as well.

And finally,  in our Checkout line you can find some great deals on some stationary items - including notepads, journals, notebooks, calendars, and magnetic notepads!

I hope you can come in and check out all these great new items for yourself soon!
